Grandprix247.com’s 2017 ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: LANCE STROLL

Teenager Lance Stroll was voted by our readers as the 2017 Rookie of the Year, the Williams teenager clearly doing enough to warrant the accolade despite a dubious start to his career at the pinnacle of the sport.

Much was written about Stroll’s billionaire father spending tens of millions to get his son on to the F1 grid, indeed many questioned young Stroll’s state of readiness to be plying his trade at this level.

Wham! Bam! Thank you, Brad! Winter Slalom Presented by Subaru of Kingston Report

Neither snow nor rain nor gloom could keep the racers away from St LAC’s Winter Slalom Presented by Subaru of Kingston February 11th.  Once again, Picton Airfield served as our venue for an event that Mother Nature threatened to spoil with some freezing rain but the participants took this in stride as something that added an extra layer of fun to the whole thing.

With the promise of a free event for existing members and a complimentary club membership to Subaru drivers courtesy of Subaru of Kingston, more than 20 cars showed up to take part.  While the field was not exclusive to the Pleiades baring brand the all-wheel drive cars had the advantage over the front-wheel entries.  Never the less, no one had a monopoly on requiring the occasional tow from a snow bank.  A special tip of the hat is extended to the Barton brothers who provided pulling services for the day.  Thanks!

This was also the chance the club needed to remove the storage container and transport it elsewhere where it will serve as the new home for our cones and timing equipment.  Special thanks are extended to Brad Hulton for making this all possible and, of course, doing the lion’s share of the work.  Thanks also go to Subaru of Kingston not only for their generosity and support but for also lending us the services of Paul Ecke for the day.

  • Paul and Brad gettin' 'er done.
  • Have storage container will travel.
  • Driver's meeting.
  • Keeping warm.
  • Thanks, Subaru of Kingston!
  • Had fun but don't tell my mom what I did with her car...
