There’s a movement to adopt a new flag into the already plentiful colour arsenal available to race officials; namely, a purple flag. Also known as a Code 35 flag, this more pink than purple ensign which features the number 35 in the centre has been adopted by ChampCar for the 2023 season. According to their rule book, it’s to be understood as: ‘Maintain 35 mph. No passing. Maintain interval between you and the car ahead.’
